Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to analyze the concept of postnormal science by Silvio Funtowicz and Jerome Ravetz. In the first part of the text, the author describes the genesis of the concept and its basic methodological and theoretical assumptions. In the second part, the analysis of post-normal science is undertaken from the perspective of the sociology of knowledge. The author of the article argues the concept of postnormal science, forced by its creators as a new method of practicing science, is in fact a political proposal, and perhaps due to the pluralism of the positions represented, a public decision-making process. This is an example of Pierre Bourdieu’s process of building scholar’s authority by imposing his own definition of science.
