Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to take a closer look at the processes of constituting knowledge on air pollution in the Krakow Metropolitan area. based on theoretical-methodological assumptions of the actor-network theory and on the own research conducted in the years 2018–2019, the author tries to trace how air quality has become a socially significant problem – initially in Krakow, and then in the surrounding municipalities. Particular attention is paid to the activities of anti-smog movements, associated under the banner of the Polish Smog alert, as well as to technological aspects related to changes in the socially shared perception of the problem.
