Summary/Abstract: With the arrival of COVID-19 and the ideological confrontations observed during the elections in Cameroon, we are witnessing a media recovery of said events and their relaying through the prism of caricature. From then on, we observe an entanglement of functions, notably the burlesque, the satirical and the ideological. The caricatural image is thus conceived in a double language which, far from the iconic comic signs, involves ethical issues. It is from this observation that this article intends to analyse, with the tools offered by semiotics, the significance of press caricature. It must be postulated at the outset that this informational genre is multifunctional and suggests meanings based on entertainment, the representation of the social imaginary and the staging of political opinion.
