Summary/Abstract: Gyula Dávid is one of the most important editors and publishers of Hungarian literature from Romania during the last five decades. His writings about publishing illustrate some important issues of Hungarian book publishing in Romania: publishing as a bridge between Romanian and Hungarian cultures; publishing as an intermediary from writer to reader; efficient book distribution, financing and planning, regardless of the existing economic context; the relationship between literary canon and publishing; the shortcomings of the Transylvanian system of cultural institutions. Of these, the article now examines the first four lines of thought in three writings of the literary historian.
