THE TIME WE SPEND AS MUA’LLIMS IN MAKTAB IS BIG AMANAT

Summary/Abstract: The Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina pays particular intention to maktab within the missionary field of its activities and recognises it as a very significant pillar of religious upbringing and education of children and as important component in construction of identity in youth. Constant changes in the reality of everyday life place a challenge before the maktab class which is an important subject of many research analysis. Good teaching plan and program, textbooks-‘ilmihal, technical equipment available in the classroom for maktab studies class are all very important but the role of a muallim is crucial. The experiences of muallims in the process of raising the level of knowledge of the students are different, thus it is very important to adequately articulate these experiences. For this issue of Novi muallim we spoke to Ahmed effendi Šehić, imam and muallim in Mosor, one of Travnik jamaats. A representative of a younger generation of imams and muallims who was four times elected as the most successful muallim in the region of Travnik Majlis, in accordance to the criteria and evaluation standards. In academic 2017/18 he stood third in the list of selected muallims competing for the title of the most successful muallim in Travnik Muftijstvo and in academic 2018/19 he received the acknowledgement and a plaque “Kasim Mašić” for the most successful muallim in this Muftijstvo. The reward and acknowledgement “Kasim Mašić” is awarded on the bases of regulations and criteria in which 34 items are evaluated regarding the activities of a muallim.
