Summary/Abstract: The parental role is the most important, demanding and responsible role that an individual takes on during different stages of life. The parent assumes responsibility for himself and for the child therefore, his upbringing actions, behavior and actions should be in accordance with the welfare of the child. A pedagogically competent parent strives to (learn) parenting skills, acquire the necessary knowledge about the child’s development and abilities at a particular stage of growing up, is confident in their parental actions, encourages effective, efficient and quality communication and is in constant interaction with the child. On the other hand, an incompetent parent feels the burden of a parenting role, is insecure, and unwilling to learn new skills. By educating parents through planned programs, parents are taught nonviolent communication, choosing effective parenting practices that contribute to the overall development of the child with emphasis on the abilities and capabilities that the child possesses, setting boundaries, discipline and responsible behavior. The goal of the program for parents is to provide parents with the perception that there is no perfect parenting, but that there is thoughtful parenting in which parents and children meet their needs.
