Summary/Abstract: A poet of untiring waters and words of creative existential unsleep, Mircea Ciobanu wrote a type of unworldly poetry, in which primordial elements such as water, earth, fire and air mix and mingle, but in which water is predominant. It is that type of water which opens the gate both to heavens and the Tenebrae. Between existential pains and the pain of giving birth to words, between the lyricism and rhyme of the first poems up to the later poems in which rhythm is perfection, while wrapped in existentialist questions and biblical symbols, Mircea Ciobanu’s poetry offers a complex, vast po(i)etic vision, in continuous transformation. In the present article, I will analyse these elements in Mircea Ciobanu’s poetry, at the same time attempting to illustrate both his trajectory and poetic thought, both of which aiming at creative maturity.
