Summary/Abstract: The main goal of this text is to present some aspects of Alexandar Teodorov-Balan’s publications, which do not fit into the popular notion of his philological activity, but for various reasons are still not well known to the philological community. Balan's ideas about the connection between language and mind and language and society, as well as the importance of language culture for personal development and the responsibility of teachers when passing on their knowledge about Bulgarian language to their students.
