Summary/Abstract: The main barriers to effective oral communication at the specialized medical units are classified. The specific verbal and nonverbal factors for improvement of oral communication are studied, the communicative techniques and means are summarized. We give examples from the specialized medical practice of efficient and inefficient communicative acts between the medical staff and the patient according to the contemporary European requirements for patients’ rights.
