Summary/Abstract: The main topic of the article is the representation of the formal and functional aspects of the forms of address in formal spoken communication, especially in parlamentary debates. Conclusions base on data, collected from The Corpus of Bulgarian political and journalistic speech (political.webclark.org). The analysis of the empirical data shows that different pragmatic and sociolinguistic factors may dominate in formal communication and determine the form of address the speaker chooses.
