Summary/Abstract: The article represents the actual situation in contemporary Bulgarian language concerning the use of greetings in formal and informal communication. Conclusions base on data, collected during the year 2013 from spoken Bulgarian including media communication. The analysis of the empirical data shows that different sociolinguistic factors may dominate in the spoken communication and determine the greeting the speaker chooses.
