Historiography of the Old Romanian Books Printed in Buda and of their Graphic Elements

Summary/Abstract: The large number of writings printed in the University Typography of Buda placed it on a leading position among the typographies that edited Romanian books during the first three decades of the 19th century. It was not only the quantity but also the quality of writings that aroused the interest of Romanian and Magyar researchers throughout the time. This historiographical approach is not intended to exhaust the subjects but rather to touch on the main proposed directions, respectively the ones related to the history of the old Romanian writings printed in Buda; to their content, their historical, linguistic and literary message, under the influence of the Enlightenment; to the engravings of books in discussion and to the engravers who signed them.
