Summary/Abstract: This paper reflects on the role of grammar in language teaching. The study starts from a review of the main grammatical approaches in order to delimit the causes of their distancing from approaches that have as reference the improvement of the linguistic behaviour of learners. This epistemological journey will serve as a basis for generating a didactic process that places it in relationship with the linguistics of the text and that allows grammar to acquire its pedagogical value in the development of the linguistic and communicative competence of students.
