Summary/Abstract: Beyond religious and administrative projects of the Hapsburg Empire, Enlightenment in Transylvania meant producing a massive educational programme whose outcomes resulted in training generations of intellectuals, brought up in the all‑powerful spirit of knowledge. This project, unheard of in 18th century Transylvania, focused on three coordinates: building up infra- structure for the new laic education promoted by the Hapsburg empire in its territories, writing school textbooks and well training of the professional body, which to put into practice the new vision. At the same time with investments made in school textbooks, one of the best‑sold publishing segments from the whole Hapsburg empire, the imperial finances sponsored a new type of literature, which at the moment sprung into existence: books for the dissemination of knowledge, enlightenment and elevation. They were the basis of modern sciences to whom they paved their way and defined terminology. Our approach tackles one of the most significant productions of this category, the work of Gheorghe Sincai, Învățătură firească spre surparea superstițiilor norodului (Natural Science as a Means of Eradicating the Superstitions of People), in a moment of which the course and appeal to history pursued education, as the flagship of civilisation.
