The Use of an Automatic AED Defibrillator as a Factor of Increasing Security in the Society

Summary/Abstract: The issue of life-saving is becoming a more and more important area of research in security studies. Contemporary threats, mass accidents and catastrophes require an efficient and effective operation of various rescue services. However, after reaching a high level of the rescue system operation, the percentage of those saved remains at a constant level. A further increase in the effectiveness of rescue can be achieved through the development of self-rescue and the development of knowledge about the principles and techniques of providing first aid in society. One of the most important elements of the rescue system is universal access to defibrillators in public places. The aim of this article is to present the issues of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the program to popularize automatic defibrillators, which has a significant impact on the safety of citizens. The results of contributions and pilot surveys of public opinion concerning knowledge about the AED access program have been presented.
