Summary/Abstract: Library buildings need to harmoniously express the public space-private space relation and thus to allow library users to consider libraries as private spaces for reading and leisure. This paper aims to present the implications, changes, and prospects of the National Library of Romania as a result of inaugurating its new headquarters. New spaces have direct consequences on the defining and redefining of the main activities, on the development of new activities, on the institutional management and on setting forth the institutional strategies.
