Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is to discuss the possibilities of exploring Internet users’ comments, published on public media websites, in reading and writing tasks for language learners. I assume that tasks based on reading comments on media websites and participating in Internet exchanges may develop learners’ ability to communicate on current public topics and support their autonomy as media consumers. Arguments concerning the value of this resource as well as task descriptions are provided in the paper. The focus is also on identifying some of the difficulties which the interpretation of writers’ intentions can evoke. They are related to the complexity of media content and the particularity of the title’s reader’ community.
