Summary/Abstract: Author of this article focuses on analysis of selected legal issues related to application of German protection against harmful influence on environment act in the context of acceptable sound nuisances stemming from sound devices being installed in minarets in Germany. At the beginning, author considers the core of dispute concerning admissible limitations of freedoms, which are guaranteed by the article 4 of the German Principal Act and presents courts’ decisions related to the question of exceeding of maximum noise level by church bells. In this context, author undertakes an attempt to describe key stances and problems related to legal assessment of nuisances stemming from sound devices in minarets in the light of German protection against harmful influence on environment act, technical standards and criteria adopted by courts.
