Summary/Abstract: Organization to be able to use the external knowledge resources in the process of increasing their innovativeness, have to express an open approach. Acceleration of the pace of technological progress and knowledge transfer has made the use of the open innovation model an effective way to implement the innovation strategy and improve competitiveness of business entities. An important current research problem is the lack of a tool, available in the form of simple to use indicators, through which it would be possible to determine the level of openness of the organization, and then to compare these volumes between selected entities. What is more, this indicator would enable further identification of factors affecting the level of innovation openness as well as the effects of openness. The objectives of this article are: to determine the characteristics, relevance and efficiency of the organizations' implementation of an open model of innovative processes and a critical analysis of innovation openness measurement methods of enterprises. The main research method used to achieve the goals is a critical analysis of the national and foreign scientific literature and logical reasoning. The results of conducted research enabled to develop an original indicator of innovative openness. Indicator enables to carry out quick and low cost analysis of the level of innovation openness of business entities. The proposed measurement method can be used for further research in the area of innovation’s openness effectiveness, which is an increasingly used model of conducting innovative activity in the era of hyper-communication and the digital economy.
