Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on three issues: folk beliefs related to the house, magic protecting the house against demonic creatures, and the so‑called “weak boundaries”. “Weak boundaries” are places through which demonic figures enter the human world. These are mostly slits – slots in the walls, a chimney, a keyhole or a window. Small holes can be interpreted as symbols of inversion and amorphousness of the underworld.
