Summary/Abstract: Hieromonk Amphiloh Iordănescu was a great singer, calligrapher, translator and composer of orthodox church music. He worked at the end of the 19th century and in the first half of the 20th century. He was a singer at several churches in Bucharest from 1884 until 1925, when he was a monk at Cozia Monastery, being a professor of church music at the school of singers here. In 1929 he served as a priest at the Negru Vodă - Câmpulung Monastery, and in 1930 he was appointed priest at Pasărea Monastery. The most important book he printed is the Music Bouquet (psaltichii) at the Printing House of the Church Books in Bucharest in 1933. This book is one of the most used by church singers in the Orthodox Church Services. Amphiloh's work is very extensive, has over 2.000 pages of manuscripts stiil needing and covers all the services of the Orthodox Church in the public divine cult. Hieromonk Amphiloh Iordănescu was a great personality in the field of Romanian church music, which today tends to be left in oblivion.
