Income inequality in the context of accessionof Poland to the European Union

Summary/Abstract: The income situation of households is determined by many factors, both endo- genous and exogenous. Also the accession of Poland to the European Union can be identified as a major factor, which determined a situation of economic agents in Poland. Using selected methods this paper presents the analysis of income distribution and income inequality. The paper also shows an analysis of households’ economic situation by voivodeships. The study compares the economic situation of households before and after the Polish accession to the European Union. All conclusions are based on the results of the analysis of household budgets carried by the Central Statistical Office in the years 2000-2009.
