Summary/Abstract: The article deals with one of the aspects concerning the funeral rite of the Baltic population – the issue of horse remains in cemeteries and human graves, which included elements of the horse order. The chronological scope of the work in-cludes the Great Migration Period and the early Middle Ages. Based on several of the most representative examples of objects, I have attempted to compare the aspect of treatment of the deceased in Eastern and Western Balts that in-terests me. I divided the text into three basic categories: independent deposits of the horse remain in sepulchral positions, human graves in direct strati-graphic relation with horse remains, and human graves equipped with elements of the horse order and not containing horse remains.
