Summary/Abstract: The audio-visual collection in the Library of the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Cracow has been assembled since 1998. At present, it comprises a total of 5,451 items, 855 of which are related to the person of St. John Paul II. The collection includes: records, slides, audio and video cassettes, compact discs (DVDs, VCDs, CD-ROMs) – acquired by purchase, donations and exchange of publications. The collection is a rich source of information about the Polish Pope and his activities and teaching, complementary to traditional books and periodicals. The audio-visual collection is fully catalogued in the MAK program, and its part is also indexed in the VTLS/Virtua program. Both catalogues are available on the UPJPII Library website. The readers can learn about these collections not only from the online catalogues but also through the exhibitions devoted to St. John Paul II prepared by the librarians. One of them consisted entirely of audio-visual items related to this great person.
