Summary/Abstract: The epistolography of Byzantine intellectuals from the 11th century includes a dozen surviving letters addressed to emperors. One of these was dispatched to Constantine IX Monommachos by the ecclesiastical dignitary John Mauropous (around 990 - after 1075), while the others were written by his renowned disciple Michael Psellos to several emperors and their wives.
