Summary/Abstract: In the narrative works of Beppe Fenoglio, its unrhetoricals tales and novels on the italian Resistance are very important. In his first book, The twenty-three days of the Alba’s town (1952), in some tales it’s possible to mark, just for his unrhetorical vision if the italian Resistance, interfernces and contrasts between courage and fear who make very humans the partisans of Beppe Fenoglio. But, in the novel A private affair (1963), who reveals just from the name of the protagonist – Milton – the great love of the writer for the english literature, the interefernces and the contrasts are between public and private. The protagonist of the novel wants to leave for a moment the partisan struggle because is anxious to know if his beloved woman, Fulvia, have betrayed him with another man. He can discover the truth only between the liberation of another partisan, prisoner of the fascists. But the search of truth, in the middle of interfernces and contrasts between public – the Resistance – and private – his love story – causes his death.
