Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is to try to generate an idea about how effective ‘sinedigma’ –which is put forward as an original concept specific to cinema– is in the perception of mental reality, and how this effect can become social. In order to reveal this aim, the study was placed on a theoretical axis centring on a literature review. Within this axis, first, the relationship between reality and cinema was mentioned; an attempt was made to explain exactly what the concept of sinedigma expresses in terms of its relationship with reality, and what effect it has on mental realities. Later, opinions about what kind of role sinedigmas can play in cultural formation were put forth by debating their impact on social reality. In conclusion, it has been asserted sinedigmas are becoming increasingly universal and they are capable of generating both individual and social realities.
