Summary/Abstract: Purpose – Strategic planning, is a roadmap in the strategic management process, that helps executives define long-term goals and enables members of the organization to adopt these goals and act accordingly. In this sense, it is important to include the members of the organization in these plans and to measure their attitudes. In the public sector, especially in the municipalities, the importance of strategic planning and including the employees into the process is felt even more because of the importance of community service. The aim of this study is to measure the attitudes of Bursa Yıldırım Municipality employees towards strategic planning implemented in the municipality. Design/methodology/approach – In this context, a questionnaire form that consists Strategic Planning Attitude Scale (Baloğlu, Karadağ and Karaman, 2008) and demographical questions was sent to Yıldırım Municipality in October 2019, which has 546 employees, and 300 responses were received in January 2020. Findings – According to the findings there is no statistically significant relationship between municipality employees’ demographical characteristics and their attitudes towards strategic planning. Discussion – It is believed that the reason for this result is that the attitude and perception regarding strategic planning has not yet been fully established in municipal employees. Therefore, it is thought that regardless of socio-demographic characteristics, employees’ attitude and perception cannot be interpreted as changeable.
