Professional Evaluation of Woman in Accounting Profession: A Qualitative Research in Diyarbakır Province

Summary/Abstract: Accounting is one of the professions that carries out great responsibility to both the state and enterprises in the economic system. As in the world when the profile of accounting professionals is examined it is seen that the number of men is also higher in Turkey. This sometimes raises questions about the role of women in the performance of the profession. The aim of the study is to evaluate the problems exposed and experiences gained by women professionals in performing the accounting profession. Fort his purpose, data was collected by interviewing female accountants operating in Diyarbakır. As a result of the study, it can beconcluded that female accounting professionals experienced a number of difficulties professionally and these difficulties were negatively reflected in their family and social lives.
