Summary/Abstract: A parent / guardian / teacher, as the mediator of reading, is responsible for the child's contact with literature. An adult is the key figure during literary initiation. Everyone, especially educators, should not only try to make the child familiar with the content and read the story, but they should also motivate the child to act. Such motivation should include giving the child the opportunity to experience, create, feel, express, and develop a positive attitude towards books. Literaction combines two important elements in the life of a child: literature and interaction. The former is understood as one of the arts. Literature includes verbal artistic works the objective of which is to stimulate the recipient’s experiences, even the most extreme ones. Today's editions of books for the youngest readers combine these two aspects and, above all, are adjusted to the developmental capabilities and current problems of children (Adamczykowa 2004: 26). Interaction confirms the reciprocal interaction of certain behaviors, persons, and objects. The following article presents literaction as an interaction between literature and emotions, play and creativity. The examples included in the text show good and multifaceted influence of literature on the development of a preschool child. It was also emphasized that children's literature is closely connected with other fields of art, which include music, painting and theater.
