Summary/Abstract: This article tries to work out the problem of language contact phenomena between Galician and Castilian which forms part of research we conducted for the Ph.D. dissertation. We will focus not only on the theoretical basis of different phenomena present in everyday speech in Galicia, like, for example, transfers, convergences, code-switching or code-mixing, but also on the analysis of these phenomena in speech. To achieve this goal, we will use the examples of bilingual speech found in the corpus formed for the Ph.D. dissertation. We will present examples of Galician speech that support our thesis that language contact phenomena are present, useful and disseminated in speech, and we could name it as a hybrid spoken variety. We can observe this phenomenon known as castrapo or chapurrao present in the literature since at least the seventies (García 1976) whose reception in the society is gradually changing and increasingly accepted, especially among younger generations (Iglesias Álvarez 2013). We will draw our conclusions about these phenomena of contact between languages and present them within the methodological framework of hybridity (Papastergladis 1997, Gugenberger 2013).
