HISTORICISM IN PAINTING, MUSIC AND POETRY: THE CASE OF THE DIVINE COMEDY, THE BEAUTIFUL LADY WITHOUT MERCY AND MAZEPPA THE HERO

Summary/Abstract: This article, intended to highlight how the painting of the nineteenth century, had an important place both in the literary and in the historical and political environment ; this appears from the fact that artists have left us a large amount of works, that is offered to the public to raise awareness with paintings of different subjects, which often had a patriotic and political background. The aim of this analysis is to recognize the essential elements of a painting : perspective, theatricality, even in the physiognomic aspect, the environment, and the techniques used by these artists, which fully reveal their abilities, applying all these elements in the visual language of each composition.
