Summary/Abstract: Health communication is based on communication activities aimed at protecting, improving and enhancing the health of the individual and society. Advances in communication technologies have begun a new era in the reaching of health related information with large audiences. New communication technologies, speed, format of the message sent, the possibility of interactive communication and individual control refers to a technology in which the user. The study aims to reveal how non-governmental organizations use Twitter. The data were collected by using the quantitative content analysis technique over tweets shared by Turkish Cancer Association, Turkish Heart Foundation and Turkish Diabetes Association within a year. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical tests. The research found that this function was used modestly, despite Twitter's potential to encourage dialogue and interaction with stakeholders. The study explored the use of retweet mechanism for interactive and effective communication.
