Summary/Abstract: Tahrîb-i Harâbât is a work that Namık Kemal has written when he was an exile in Magosa. Tahrîb-i Harâbât that has been written for the critique of the first volume of Ziya Pasha’s anthology called Harâbât has been sent to İstanbul as a letter first of all. The work was later serialized and published in Mecmua-i Ebuzziya. The work was published as a book in Matbaa-i Ebüzziya a long time after it was written. Tahrîb-i Harâbât involves hard critiques against Harâbât and Ziya Pasha. The poems that Ziya Pasha included in the anthology and the criteria for selecting poets are the target of Namık Kemal. He also frequently makes use of irony in Tahrîb-i Harâbât. Namık Kemal tries to put Ziya Pasha in a difficult situation by sometimes making political sarcasm. For this reason, Ebüzziya Tevfik, who published Tahrîb-i Harâbât, had to censor some parts of the work. After Namık Kemal published Tahrîb-i Harâbât, he continued his criticism and wrote the work named Takîb in return for the second volume of Harâbât. In this article, findings about mocking in the Tahrîb-i Harâbât are presented. At the end of our study, a revision related to the Tahrîb-i Harâbât is included.
