Summary/Abstract: In contemporary art theory, the aesthetics of silence is existential, ethical and ideological stance and way of life of an artist who puts his public appearing to an end, exhibiting and his being a part of the art world. Modern art as such in many of its segments shows certain parallels to Christian ethos through concepts such as silence, negation, ascetics but at the same time can pose us a question: How much does contemporary orthodox theology demonstrates by its discourse that it feels existential problems that the contemporary art reacts to and what kind of relation does it have towards silence and speech.
