Summary/Abstract: In this study the author discusses our modern, western concept of “art” and its genesis. The discussion shows how technе, ars and creatio, as ancient Greek and Roman concepts, were used in the eighteenth century to construct the idea of “art” which we still use today. The author also analyzes the idea of “creativity,” as one of the most important features of “art,” from a Biblical perspective, pointing to its theological and Judeo-Christian roots.
