Landmarks in the development of Constanţa County Library Information system.

Summary/Abstract: This essay represents a preliminary synthesis of the chapter The Information System of the future collective work The Monograph of Constanţa County Library.For designing and developping a proper library information system, there have taken into consideration: theoretical principles, the recommendations of the specialists from the important libraries, but mainly the specific aspects of lecture in Constanţa, the particular role of the public library, for a long time the unique library of the city, and constantly the most important, due to its value, extent and diversity of collections.Practically, the information system has known a normal evolution from the traditional form, with its own development from a minimal necessary structure, to a complex modern structure, with components for the first time in a county library (The Local Bibliographical Information - 1965, The Information and Technical Documentation Office 1980 - 1990, The Bibliology Office 1980-1990) - to the authomatized form, today based on the integrated library soft TINLIB: the electronic catalogues (a special mention for the subject catalogue), the local bibliography in conversion from CDS-ISIS in TINLIB and The Community Information Center.As a docummentary and information structure, Constanţa County Library, by its present activity and development objectives, aims to become an active participant into the national information system, a competitive information user and provider.
