Summary/Abstract: During the interwar period, general or partial parliamentary elections were held when a place remained vacant, which animated the local political life. Such a moment was also held in Ialomița county, on September 6, 1926, when the first by-election was held, following the resignation of General Alexandru Averescu to the place obtained during the May 1926 elections, at the Assembly of Deputies. For this campaign, the candidate of the People's Party, the governing party, Nicolae Ioan, registered. From the Peasant Party the university professor and frontman, Ion Răducanu, from Ialomita, participated and the last candidate, the representative of the National Liberal Party, Constantin Banu. The election campaign was dominated by the first two candidates who had different backing. If Ion Răducanu received the support of the leaders from the center of the Peasant Party who were present in the polling stations in the county, on the day of the election, on the other hand, the candidate of the ruling party, Nicolae Ioan, did not enjoy the same support and was sabotaged by partisans from the county. The proof of this fact is the result of the election that was favorable to Ion Raducanu.
