Summary/Abstract: Ownership transformation of the Slovene economy is taking place at the same time as the change of role and working methods of the Slovene trade unions. Both changes are interactive - future trade union strategy will depend on the ownership structure of the Slovene economy. On the other hand, trade unions have influenced the process and results of ownership transformation and they will have an important role in the future as well. The privatization process until now has resulted in a lot of employee ownership. Employee ownership can be supported by trade unions as a permanent element of ownership. structure and as an interest of trade unions' members (which will mean new methods and aims for the of trade unions) or it can be defined as a transition towards a more concentrated ownership structure (in which trade unions will have the role of protection of labour).
