Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the results of a cognitive-semantic analysis of the concept patriotism in both German and Polish. The corpora data come from the tabloid Bild and its Polish counterpart Fakt. The theoretical-methodological background is Cognitive Semantics. The definition of the frame patriotism is also based on a quantitative and qualitative analysis, whereby the slots of the frame with their default values are determined with regard to German and Polish, and are then contrasted. The research object includes contexts with the lexeme patriotism and its derivatives, the contextual distribution of the lexemes, salient nominal phrases with patriotism and semantic- cognitive structure of the contexts concerning the concept patriotism.
