Summary/Abstract: Ozorków is one of several industrial cities surrounding Łódź, which was established in the 19th century. The activities of the Schlösser family played a major role in the development of the town. A remnant of the family’s importance is their grave site at the Evangelical-Augsburg Cemetery in Ozorków, occupying a large space and filled with a dozen or so tombstones of family members and their closely related Werner’s. They were created over a hundred years and present various artistic forms and techniques, well illustrating the changes in the sepulchral art at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The most interesting ones include the iron tomb of Friedrich (Friedrich) Schlösser and the granite sarcophagus of Henrietta Wilhelmina Schlösser née Werner. Noteworthy is also the marble tomb of Karol Jan Werner and his wife Emilja née Schlösser, signed as the only one from the group under discussion – by the sculptor Ludomir Wąsowski from Łódź. The most important element of the grave site is the chapel-mausoleum of Henryk (Heinrich) and Charles (Carl) Schlösser. The stone building is not strictly dated and its author is unknown. It presents classical-renaissance forms and its original element is the entrance portal with Egyptian motifs. The discussed sepulchral complex in Ozorków has not been the subject of more in-depth research so far, and it deserves to be highlighted due to its historical significance related to the industrial history of the region, as well as artistic, presenting interesting forms and a high level of workmanship.
