Summary/Abstract: Islamic Theological Faculty in Sarajevo started its work in 1977. Fifteen years later, the Faculty continues its work as the Faculty of Islamic Studies in Sarajevo. This was the beginning of the negotiations about its integration in the University of Sarajevo. The Islamic Community has indicated the baseline for its integration which consists in the fact that the Faculty of Islamic Studies must preserve the characteristics of the institution of the Islamic Community, which means that the Faculty has to be secured both academic and administrative autonomy. Thus the authorities of the Faculty will determine the curricula as well as Faculty development plan and the Faculty would be a fully integrated part of the University. However, those baselines seem not to have been accepted since others choose our assistants and deprive us of jurisdiction over main subjects at the Faculty. Hence, we believe a better solution would be that the leaders of the Islamic Community start creating conditions for the establishment of the Islamic University in the European Union, which Bosnia and Herzegovina is actively involved in joining.
