On the Legal Capacity and the Future of Chattels

Summary/Abstract: The article examines the legal criteria for the recognition of legal capacity. The analysis focuses on the legal status of specific chattels as animals and artificial intelligence robots. The changing public opinion and the continuous development of modern technology pose a number of questions regarding the “rights” of some traditional and completely new legal objects. The possible legal responses to the challenges of the modern technological society have been explored in detail.
