Summary/Abstract: In this paper we aim to analyse the famous elegy from the second Book ofthe Ovid’s Tristia, which implies a commentary on the issue of morality in literature.Ovid detached himself as author, of the accusations that caused him the relegation toTomis. He argues that both as a person and as a writer he can never be accused fordisrespect, regarding the official politics, on this matter. The poet uses a well organizedset of arguments and offers and impresive example of talent and erudition.
