ASSESSMENT OF OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY APPLICATION PERFORMANCE DIMENSIONS WITH AHP: KOCAELI PORT REGION

Summary/Abstract: Aim: Studies in occupational health and safety (OHS) are increasing day by day. In addition, it is important for business management to examine and evaluate the performance of practices in terms of OHS. In this study, it is aimed to calculate the importance levels and weight values dimensions of the OHS implementation performance based on the data obtained from the OHS experts working in the port enterprises operating in the Kocaeli Port Area. Method: The importance levels of the dimensions of OHS implementation performance obtained from the literature were analyzed using the AHP method, one of the multi-criteria decision making methods, with the data obtained from 20 OHS experts working in port enterprises in the Kocaeli Port Area. Findings: According to the findings of the research, it was revealed that the most important dimension among the dimensions of OHS application performance was the employees' awareness and awareness level (41.2%), and the least important dimension was OHS training practices (8.6%). Results: The fact that awareness and awareness levels on OHS are the most important dimension among the existing dimensions, show that this awareness should be instilled in employees and should be the first priority among the practices to be made in the field of OHS. The fact that OHS training practices are the performance dimension with the least importance indicates that OHS training practices are forgotten and ignored by the employee day by day unless they are transferred to the actual work environment and are not inspected. As a result, it should be said that each of the OHS application performance dimensions is very important. Because each of these dimensions are interrelated and interconnected.
