Summary/Abstract: Based on theoretical assumptions developed in the 1960s of the 20th century by Rotter in the context of Social Learning Theory and Glasser in the context of his Choise Theory, the preschool teachers' beliefs in the Sarajevo preschool institutions were examined and recommendations for their professional development were given. The aim of the research was to examine the connection of the preschool teachers' work locus of control with their age and length of their work expirience in the field. In a sample of 203 preschool teachers, it was observed that there was a statistically significant connection between the age and external work locus of control, as well as between the length of work experience and external work locus of control, which means that the older preschool teachers with longer work experience mostly have the belief that events are the consequence of something beyond personal control - happiness, destiny, coincidence, other people's behavior. The correlation between age, work experience, and internal work locus of control did not prove statistically significant, or the beliefs that events are the consequnce of personal characteristics efforts, and abilities of a person. Research suggests that person's locus of control influences the perception of self and environment, directs behavior and is related to many aspects of psychological well-being, and develops from childhood. As preschool teachers are one of the basic models by which children learn, the necessity of organiing educations for preschool teachers with the aim of strengtthening the internal locus of control is imposed. One such training could be the Choise Theory training, which has been practiced in our region for decades and would be particularly significant to preschool teachers who already have long work experience. This paper presents the basic assumptions of the Choice Theory and the methods in which the beliefs advocated by this theory can aid in educational work.
