Law no. 53/2003 (republished), labour code or law on the individual labour contract?

Summary/Abstract: In the study hereby, the author demonstrates that, in relation to the provisions of Law No. 24/2000 laying down the legislative technique rules for the drafting of legislation, the Labour Code (Law No. 53/2003, republished on May 18th, 2011), considering its current wording, in reality it is not (it cannot be) considered a Labour Code, but just a simple law on the Individual Labour Contract. This being the case, it is framed that, in the future, the current Labour Code (Law No. 53/2003) to be supplemented by the inclusion in its wording of some basic regulations in the field of labour legislation (or related thereto) which, at present, are covered by 17 other pieces of legislation (laws, decrees or Government Decisions, etc.).
