Summary/Abstract: The foundation of churches and chapels of the Passion of Christ, i.e. the New Jerusalem in the Czersk poviat near Warsaw in the second half of the 17th century was the work of Poznań bishop Stefan Wierzbowski. He handed over the main church and several roadside shrines to the care of the Order of Friars Minor of the Lesser Poland Province (commonly known as the Bernardines).
