Summary/Abstract: The article explores the importance and relevance of Martin Buber’s philosophy of dialogue in the current media society. The new media – social networks and their impact on existential dialogue and interhuman relations are analysed from the perspective of Buber’s philosophy. The article examines the differences between existential dialogue and virtual dialogue. The following important I-Thou traits of the existential dialogue, which cannot be spread in the space of social networks, are discussed: existential meeting, mutual and full involvement of participants in dialogue, value orientation, spiritual closeness of souls. It is concluded that social virtual space does not allow the genuine existential dialogue; on the contrary, social networks lead to an increasing deformation of interhuman relations, dehumanisation and the crisis of authentic dialogue.
