Summary/Abstract: Vaclovas Miknevičius (1910–1989) is rightfully considered to be one of the pioneers of professional Lithuanian ceramic art. He finished studies during the interwar period at Kaunas Art School. The artist was active his entire life. He created diverse ceramics including unique exhibitional works, serial production standards, and large-scale monumental ceramic objects. He was appreciated for justifying and rationalizing the industry of Lithuanian ceramics. During the years of creation V. Miknevičius’s style, forms and specifics of decor developed and altered. A significant part of his life was dedicated to educational and social work. He also was a member of the Lithuanian Artist’s Association. V. Miknevičius lived and created in Kaunas. A large part of his heritage is still preserved in the memorial environment of his family home in Vilijampolė.
